What Is Laser Therapy?

Laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) therapy is a safe, innovative, non-invasive treatment option that uses special light beams to penetrate and stimulate cell production in injured tissues. During this treatment, our veterinarians and trained staff move a handheld laser across the animal’s injured area, which creates a warm, pleasant sensation for most pets.

Staff, owners (if present) and even the pets wear protective glasses during the procedure to provide extra safety for the eyes. The time of each appointment varies depending on the laser’s specific power settings needed for the condition being treated. Our veterinarians and staff have extensive training and expertise in selecting the appropriate power, frequency, and duration of laser application needed for your pet’s specific condition. Repeated treatment applications are typically necessary but we often see improvements soon after the very first treatment.
